Hope everyone had a marvelous Thanksgiving holiday. Mine was exhausting but wonderful, still. First, E and I went to my uncle’s and had a festive and gluttonous dining experience. They own a pretty fancy restaurant and really know their food, so their dinners never, ever disappoint. A gang of us played Hold’Em for a few hours. I thought my skills may have depreciated from lack of practice in the last year but I took the table….twice, thank ya very much! Next we headed over to Jason and Cam’s housewarming/Thanksgiving dinner. It’s always nice to see married couples embarking on their new journey together by purchasing a new house. What a beautiful house it was. I can’t wait until I settle down and own my own home! Lots of love, family-time, sharing n’ caring… but seriously - exhausting! I need to rev-up before Christmas…whoa….whole ‘nother can-o-worms. Next week I am going to the boyfriend’s company’s winter formal event, along with my best friend April and her boyfriend. I feel like im going to prom again! His company is doing it up SO, SO phat. One of the prizes is a fully loaded/paid trip to Japan for 2. Now that is what I call a prize.
Chicago was good times. I can see now why this city is known for its crazy winds. One time, the wind was actually beating so hard on our backs, it actually gave Cat a wedgie. And their clubs are interesting. The first night we got there, we went to this one club that was “apartment themed.” It had a kitchen area, dining area and bedroom area, etc. The drinks were so cheap, it flipped all of our lids. Shots of goose were only like $4.00 and most other drinks were $3.00. It was awesome. I guess it depends on what area of Chi-town you go to. But another venue we went to the next night, the bartender charged us $4.00 for drinks we had on-the-rocks! $4.00 for ice? She musta been on something. Now THAT is ridonkulous. Speaking of the windy city, today is one of the windiest, stormiest days ever! I went outside to grab a simple cup of soup only to find myself fighting to salvage my beautiful umbrella from the unrelenting winds, saved myself from a potentially disastrous and wet fall onto hard concrete, and in the end, after getting my soup and only inches away from the safety of my building, the wind flipped my umbrella and in the process, I dropped my cup of soup causing it to explode in the bag and leaving me wet and soup-less with a broken umbrella. Woe is me. I thought, man if only I had stayed in, I would have still had an umbrella and $5.00 in my pocket. Wind: 2, Me: 0. Bummer.
There is something about me and taking soups to go. This has happened on numerous occasions, where I will order soup to go with the soup never making it back with me without the pavement getting a lick of it first. It’s a rather strange phenomenon. Last month, I ordered soup from Subway and was walking back to my destination when I looked down to see that I had dragged an empty paper bag with a hole in it for the last block, leaving a trail of clam chowder behind me. WTF man?! Why don’t these damn institutions invest in some sturdy containers and lids?! Bastards. Freakin’ A, I want my smoky split pea! Whiiiine.
I was in awe as I drove past Union Square one night and saw that the decorations have been put up in all its glory. It’s truly a sight to behold. For the past year, I feel like, for the first time, I am beginning to see the beauty in a lot of things…but none of this would have been possible if I had not seen first what was right under my nose. You know what I mean..
